Somatic-Informed Support

Sometimes what we're experiencing shows up not only in our thoughts, but in the body too — tension, restlessness, changes in breathing, feeling shut down, or simply having a hard time settling.

Somatic-informed support brings gentle attention to those experiences alongside conversation. Rather than trying to change or interpret every sensation, we can simply notice what's happening and explore what helps you feel more present and connected.

Practices may include grounding, breathing, body awareness, small stretches or gentle movement. Everything is optional, and you're always encouraged to let me know what feels comfortable or doesn't feel right for you.

Somatic-Informed Counselling

Body awareness can be incorporated into regular counselling when it feels relevant to what we're working on.

For example, while talking about a difficult situation, we might pause and notice where you're feeling tension, slow down your breathing, orient to the room, or try a simple grounding practice before continuing.

It doesn't need to be a large part of the session. Sometimes it's simply another source of information alongside what you're thinking and feeling.

Standalone Somatic Session

You can also book a standalone session if you're interested in exploring body-awareness and grounding practices without having a regular counselling session.

We'll begin by talking briefly about what you're experiencing and what you're hoping to get from the session. From there, we may explore a few simple practices such as grounding, breath awareness, gentle movement or noticing physical sensations.

This is a collaborative session rather than a set routine. You can pause, modify or choose not to participate in any practice at any time.

Standalone somatic sessions are intended for general wellbeing, grounding and self-awareness. They are not psychotherapy, medical treatment, physiotherapy or massage/bodywork.

Outdoor Somatic Sessions

Somatic-informed sessions can also take place outdoors in the Niagara Region.

Being outside gives us another way to work with awareness — noticing movement, breath, the senses and what's happening around you. Sessions may include gentle walking, grounding, sensory awareness and simple body-awareness practices.

Outdoor sessions are available individually, with occasional small-group offerings.

Interested in Exploring Somatic Support?

You don't need any previous experience with body-based practices. If you're curious about incorporating this work into counselling or trying a standalone session, you're welcome to get in touch and ask questions before booking.
