Grief & Pet Loss Support

Grief can come with sadness, anger, guilt, relief, loneliness, confusion — or sometimes a mixture that's difficult to put into words. There's no particular way you're supposed to grieve and no timeline you need to follow. Whether you're grieving a person, a pet, or another meaningful loss, counselling can offer somewhere to talk honestly about what you're experiencing and find your own way of living alongside the loss.

Grief Support

Grief doesn't always look the way we expect it to.

You may want to talk about the person you've lost, what happened, how life has changed, or something completely different. You might be struggling with sleep, concentration, relationships, returning to work, or simply getting through ordinary days.

Counselling isn't about moving you through grief or helping you "get over" someone. It's a place where your loss can be talked about openly while we explore what you need as you adjust to life around it.

Pet Loss Support

The loss of a pet can be deeply painful, and it isn't always understood by the people around us. Pets are part of our routines, our homes and often our closest relationships. Their absence can be felt in countless small moments throughout the day.

Pet loss counselling offers space to talk about your relationship, the circumstances surrounding the loss, difficult emotions such as guilt or regret, changes in daily life, and ways of remembering and maintaining a connection with your pet.

Support is also available before a loss, including when facing difficult decisions related to end-of-life care.

Grief Walks

Sometimes sitting in an office isn't where you want to be with grief.

Grief Walks offer one-to-one support outdoors on local trails in the Fonthill area. We can walk and talk, pause when needed, or spend some of the time quietly.

Depending on what feels meaningful to you, a walk may include reflection, grounding, time in nature or a simple remembrance practice.

There is no set route through the session and no expectation that you need to talk the entire time.

The Wind Phone

Some Grief Walks can include time at the Wind Phone — a quiet place to speak, reflect, remember, or simply sit with someone you've lost. Using the Wind Phone is always optional.

Ways to Meet

Grief and pet loss support is available in person in Fonthill, virtually across Ontario, and outdoors through Grief Walks. You don't need to be at a particular stage of grief before reaching out.
