Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect in my first session?
Your first session is a space to get to know one another and talk about what brought you here. We’ll explore what’s been feeling challenging, what you’d like support with, and what you hope to get out of counselling. There’s no pressure to share everything right away — we move at your pace. You’ll also learn about confidentiality, boundaries, and what sessions look like, so you can feel comfortable moving forward.
What kind of counselling do you offer?
Counselling at Schild Wellness is supportive, compassionate, and focused on helping you feel grounded and understood. Sessions are a mix of conversation, reflection, and simple awareness practices that help you reconnect with yourself and find steadiness in everyday life.
What concerns can counselling help with?
Many people reach out for help with stress, anxiety, burnout, grief, overwhelm, or feeling disconnected. Counselling can help you make sense of your experiences, build healthy coping skills, and bring more calm and clarity to your daily life.
How are sessions different from traditional talk therapy?
While there’s space to talk and reflect, sessions may also include gentle grounding or mindfulness practices to help calm the body and quiet the mind. The goal is to support your whole self — mind, body, and emotions — in a way that feels safe and manageable.
What is a Grounding Reset session?
Grounding Reset sessions are 30-minute, skill-based appointments designed to help you pause and reset. These are not counselling sessions, but they offer practical tools for calming the nervous system, easing tension, and building resilience during busy or stressful times.
What is Walk-and-Talk Therapy?
Walk-and-Talk Therapy takes the counselling process outdoors. Moving in nature can help ease tension and make conversation flow more naturally. These sessions are held on local trails around Fenwick and Pelham and can be adapted to your pace and comfort level.
Are online sessions available?
Yes. Schild Wellness offers secure, private online counselling sessions for clients across Ontario. Virtual sessions provide flexibility while offering the same warmth, care, and confidentiality as in-person appointments.
What qualifications does Emily Schild have?
Emily Schild is a Registered Professional Counsellor-Provisional (RPC-P) with the Canadian Professional Counselling Association (CPCA). Her approach integrates mindfulness, body-based awareness, and grounding techniques to support clients in building balance and resilience.
How do I know which service is right for me?
If you’re unsure where to start, you can book a free 15-minute clarity call. It’s a relaxed conversation to explore what you’re looking for and decide whether counselling, a Grounding Reset, or a Walk-and-Talk session feels like the right fit.
Do you offer reduced-cost or flexible options?
Yes. Schild Wellness offers flexible pricing and pay-what-you-can options to make support more accessible. Everyone deserves care, regardless of financial circumstances.
Where are sessions held?
In-person appointments are offered in Fenwick, Ontario. Walk-and-Talk sessions take place on nearby trails, and virtual sessions are available for clients across Ontario.
